Modification of the existing agreement for the assignment and administration of rights for producers of sound recordings

GVL has modified its agreement for the assignment and administration of rights for producers of sound recordings in order to incorporate a series of new developments.

One major change is the closing distribution of GVL remuneration to producers, which had been processed by the Federal Association of the Music Industry (registered association) [BVMI] on a fiduciary basis for four decades; since the end of 2013, GVL now processes this distribution itself. Further modifications affect the granting of extended exploitation rights for the following areas:

  • collective licensing of the exploitation of commercially published sound recordings as background music on websites,
  • collective licensing of podcasting and simulcasting services of previously broadcast programmes relating to music videos,
  • collective licensing of the reproduction and distribution of certain, previously broadcast programmes via video-on-demand,
  • extension of the regulations governing the reproduction for the purposes of a communication to the public.

The new agreement for the assignment and administration of rights was posted out to more than 9,500 producers.
