We are one of the biggest collective management organisations for neighbouring rights in Europe. Please read on to find out more about our activity as representatives of our rights holders.
We have represented the interests of performing artists and producers of sound recordings since 1959. Our philosophy is that those who render artistic performances or create a financial basis for them must receive money for the exploitation of their performances. Here at GVL, Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten mbH, we capture and manage such exploitations.
We pay the fees we collect on a fiduciary basis e.g. from radio and TV stations and for the public performance (e.g. in restaurants or cafés) to our members each year in the form of a remuneration. More than 150,000 performers and 12,000 producers worldwide have put their trust in us – and have turned GVL into one of the biggest collective management organisations for neighbouring rights in Europe.
Associates of GVL are the Deutsche Orchestervereinigung e.V. (German Orchestra Association, short: DOV), Bundesverband Musikindustrie e.V. (Federal Association of the Music Industry, short: BVMI), Bundesverband Schauspiel e.V. (Federal Acting Association, short: BFFS) and the Verband unabhängiger Musikunternehmer*innen (Association of Independent Musicians and Music Companies, short: VUT).
